GASTROINTESTINAL WELLNESS SUPPORT

Good health begins in the gut.

GastroZen provides nutritional gastrointestinal tract support, for optimal gastrointestinal health and wellbeing.

Consider GastroZen if Your Horse Is:

  • In poor condition, with low appetite or a low rate of feed conversion
  • On a high grain or concentrate, and/or low fibre diet
  • Recently treated with antibiotics or other chemical treatments
  • Exhibiting symptoms of inflammatory bowel disease (loose or irregular bowel movements, feed sensitivity)
  • Experiencing gastrointestinal ulceration, bacterial infection or yeast overgrowth
  • Displaying symptoms of gastrointestinal pain or discomfort (ear pinning, aggression around rugging, grooming or saddling)

If your horse is experiencing behavioural issues, particularly aggression or general crankiness, your horse may be experiencing pain related to the conditions within his or her gastrointestinal environment.  Your horse’s gut is the centre of its wellbeing – so many chemical processes, and subsequent reactions, originate from the inter-relationship of feedstuffs, enzymes and microflora within the gastrointestinal tract, that it only makes sense to begin within, and resolve any potential issues from the inside-out.

By addressing your horse’s health at the gut level, you may find that numerous other areas of their health, wellness and productivity are improved without any additional consultation, making GastroZen an easy and economical choice for all-round health and wellbeing.

Our Recipe for a Happier, Healthier Gut:

Prebiotic Support

Prebiotics are an essential aid to gut microbial balance, and in studies, have been shown to improve the beneficial gut microflora population better than probiotics. Prebiotics are the food which beneficial microflora consume in order to proliferate, so by feeding the gut microflora you are creating the right environment for them to naturally replicate and flourish, rather than adding more bacteria (via probiotics) to an environment which cannot sustain them. Increasing hind-gut populations of beneficial microflora increases natural, enteric production of b-group vitamins, including thiamine (B1) and vitamin B12, as well as vitamin K, and improves feed usage, meaning a calmer, happier horse, and better value from your horse’s diet.

Antioxidant Support

Antioxidants neutralise harmful free radicals, before they can cause damage to cells and tissues.

Anti-inflammatory Support

Botanical anti-inflammatories support the moderation of gastrointestinal inflammation, which can help to prevent leaky gut, and reduce symptoms of IBS and colitis.

Digestive Support

Herbal digestives ensure that ingested feed is efficiently metabolised and nutrients made use of, rather than food becoming rancid, improperly digested, and toxic to the body. They help to reduce gas formation in the intestinal tract, and relieve mild spasms, which can help to prevent horses from feeling colicky and uncomfortable.

Antibacterial Support

Botanical compounds selectively inhibit the proliferation of harmful microflora, including streptococci and candida, within the GI tract, while keeping the good guys (beneficial gut microflora and enzymes) in tact. Hence, they have been traditionally used to balance microflora populations within the GI tract.

Biotoxin Binding Support

Broad-spectrum toxin binders are used to bind mycotoxins, bad bacteria and heavy metals within the GI tract, for safe elimination via the bowel movements.  Binding of toxins throughout the GI tract with a suitable and stable binder can reduce the incidence of re-uptake of liver wastes during transit through the large intestine and on to the colon, so they are not able to cause any further harm once they have been captured.

GastroZen is typically given the rate of up to 15g/100kg bodyweight (approximately 25ml volume), daily, mixed in your horse’s hard feed.  Your horse’s total daily requirement can be given in a single daily feed or split between am & pm feeds.  For best results, GastroZen should be given for at least 7-8 weeks, but can be given indefinitely, if necessary or beneficial to your horse’s condition.
